Grievances
Contact your Union Steward or call the Vermont Federation of Nurses & Health Professionals (United Professions AFT Vermont) at 802-657-4040 to determine and report if your rights or your patients’ rights have been violated in any of the following areas:
- Contract or Policy matters regarding safety & patient care, wages, hours, working conditions, benefits scheduling or any related matter.
- Violation of Past Practice.
- Violation of Fair Treatment.
- Violation of federal or state law.
- Violation of management’s rules or responsibilities.
You have a contractual right to have a steward at a meeting with your manager. Our contract states, "The manager or supervisor shall notify the bargaining unit employee that they may have a VFNHP representative present prior to or during any conversation, interview, or investigation that, in the reasonable opinion of the manager/supervisor, could result in progressive discipline or necessitate some form of disciplinary documentation in a personnel file." (See also: Weingarten Rights.)
You may speak with the union steward on your unit or contact our office at 802-657-4040. You are not alone!
You can download a grievance worksheet and grievance form on this site. Actions must be taken on a specific timeline, which your steward is familiar with.
